01 Sep 2023

The expansion plan includes boosting capacity utilisation at the Mukutban plant in Maharashtra, establishing a second clinker unit in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, and constructing additional grinding units.

Birla Corporation Chairman, Harsh V Lodha, stated during the company's 103rd Annual General Meeting that the commissioning of the Mukutban plant strategically strengthens their presence in Central India. This enhancement enables them to serve the region efficiently with six plants: Maihar, Satna, Kundangunj, Raebareli, Chanderia, and Mukutban. The well-positioned plants and consistent product quality provide flexibility to optimise sourcing for maximum realisation and customer service.

The company is confident in expanding its market share in the premium cement segment in the state, despite the presence of major players. The Mukutban plant currently has an installed cement production capacity of 3.9 million tonnes per year, with the current capacity utilisation at 40-45 per cent.

Birla Corporation aims to raise its Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA) to Rs 850 per tonne by the end of this fiscal year, compared to Rs 664 at the end of the first quarter.
